South Boulder WWTP - City of Kalgoorlie Boulder

The City of Kalgoorlie- Boulder owns and operates the 8,000 m3/day South Boulder wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) which includes dual operation of an Intermittent Decant Extended Aeration (IDEA) activated sludge plant, and residual waste stabilisation ponds.
WISE delivered a water balance model based on calibrated flow meter data (13 meters) to deliver City of Kalgoorlie- Boulder compliance with DWER License requirements. The water balance verified leakage from both sections of the plant.

The Trade Waste Management Plan and Policy was delivered to implement catchment control of wastewater quality entering the WWTP. DWER License Annual Environmental Report (AER) including comprehensive data validation was completed in 2018. Sludge sampling for landfill disposal compliance was also completed.
WISE has completed DWER Works Approval, detailed design, tender drawings and specifications for the staged upgrade of the ponds system to 7.0 ML/day to enable the IDEA plant to be taken offline for condition assessment and refurbishment budgeting. SCADA upgrade scoping was completed for the WWTP and integration into the downstream recycled water scheme. Construction works were completed in 2022.
