Alternative Water Strategy - Water Corporation, WA
Planning for Perth’s Water Supply has become more holistic. Climate change is impacting water availability for agriculture, public open space and industry. Alternative water sources are expected to be part of an integrated solution for Water Corporation. and evaluation of the best way to use these is needed – treating to a high standard to augment the potable supply, developing as fit for purpose sources and identifying where different sources and concepts best apply.
WISE assisted the Water Corporation with the first stage of its Integrated Water Planning Project by delivering the following foundation studies to identify opportunities for alternative water solutions:
- A gap analysis of Perth metropolitan wastewater to identify alternative water opportunities in wastewater collection, treatment and disposal,
- A more detailed evaluation of the treatment and distribution options of treated wastewater for agriculture, and
- Identifying potential upgrades to the potable distribution network to meet forecast demand.
